Around here things just keep buzzing - or maybe I should say cackling and whinnying. The chickens are still bustling out the door along with a recent shipment of horses. Pigs and sheep too! Thankfully, they’re all on fabric and don’t need a lot of care. And they are so much fun to sew up. WHAT’S NEW A group of Robert Kaufman “Fusions” just came in. They’re like one color prints in such subtle designs they will be super versatile in any project. You really need to see these charmers. Some of us have already picked favorites. I like the word STUNNING, when describing the Midnight Cowboy fabric we just received from Maywood Studios. It depicts cowboy scenes in silhouette against a starry night sky. It even lends itself to use in borders or even fussy cutting for blocks. We love the companion fabrics too, though they could easily be used in other projects. We just unwrapped some really nice batiks. The batik lovers among us will enjoy sewing these colorful beauties. Might be hard to pick “just one”. Though not too new, I did get in some additional hooks and hangers from Summer Sky. They’re the ones who make the original design hangers we show off in our “alcove”. The wrought iron look of these useful hangers can enhance your rustic or whimsical decor, not to mention helping to display your quilted wall hangings. SOCIAL SEWING - Each Third Wednesday Customers have requested these sessions. With the help of Doris Wells, we will host Social Sewing each 3rd Wednesday of the month. Hours are 9 AM to noon. There is no charge. Bring your unfinished projects, or a snag project that needs some extra advice and join us for a spell to sew and socialize. REMINDERS Our assortment of notions is growing as is the variety of items. Our customers let us know that they appreciate having them here. Nice to hear! Wednesdays are 10% Off All Notions Days. Smart quilters are taking advantage of our 40% off table. It’s a good way to get the multiple yardage pieces for their quilt backs. We all like to have the backs look good too and this is an economical way to do that. And who can’t think of other projects for the discounted, but quality, fabrics? The Quilt In A Day trunk sale was a big hit. We now have to pack up the quilts and ship them out. They will be missed.
